Breaking with the fossil past
The invention of the internal combustion engine 130 years ago marked the start of automobile-driven mass mobility. There are now around 1.2 billion vehicles registered and roughly 90 million new vehicles are produced each year. Annual CO2 emissions from internal combustion engines are approximately three billion tonnes. The collateral damage inflicted on society and the environment are utterly incomprehensible.
What began as the blessing of the internal combustion engine has ultimately become a curse for humanity and the environment. Dependency on petrol- and diesel-driven vehicles presents a huge challenge not only to manufacturers, consumers and politics, but also humanity as a whole. How can we bring our mobility needs in tune with the environment? The alternative drive concepts for electric vehicles currently under discussion simply transfer the environmental burden elsewhere. The production of hydrogen demands enormous energy reserves, lithium-ion batteries cause environmental damage both in the extraction of the raw materials and in recycling.
Nearly all alternative vehicle concepts currently on the market follow the same format, developed on the mindset of generations of traditional engineers. A breakthrough is therefore necessary in many respects.
We are still a young company. Our corporate organisation is lean and efficient, free from the innovation-hostile structures of large, established companies. Building the future
nanoFlowcell and the associated bi-ION electrolyte liquid are in the final stages of testing. On initial durability test drives, our QUANTiNO and QUANT FE prototypes, both nanoFlowcell technology showcases with different user profiles, provided an impressive demonstration of what a nanoFlowcell® drive can do in an electric vehicle:
